Essential Oil and what is it used for?
With so many of us leading busy lives, it’s easy to get
caught up in the day to day and lose track of what we really need for the
health of our minds and bodies.
In the mind, this can show up as stress, lack of focus, or a
low mood. In the body, this can manifest as poor digestion, headaches sore
muscles,hair loss etc
This is where it can be valuable to look to time-honoured
herbs, such as peppermint, for a little extra support.
Peppermint has a long history of use in cooking, as well as
western herbal medicine and aromatherapy.
This menthol-rich herb is popular for its ability to lift
the spirits, bring an aroma of freshness to meals, sweets and personal care

What is a carrier oil
and how is it used together with essential oils?
Because essential oils are incredibly concentrated, they
should almost always be diluted in a carrier oil, specifically when used
topically.
Carrier oils dilute the essential oils and help “carry” them
into the skin.
Below are carrier oils that you can use,
- ·
Sweet almond oil
It has a medium consistency, absorbs well and is known for
its moisturizing properties.
Loaded with vitamin E, sweet almond oil keeps your skin
cells healthy and may even protect your skin from UV radiation damage.
When applied daily, it can help the skin look and feel more
smooth, helping reduce the signs of aging.
Sweet almond oil can naturally fight skin imperfections with
its vitamin A properties.
- ·
Extra Virgin olive oil
Olive oil is high in antioxidants and is exceptionally
healing to dry, patchy skin.
Also loaded with vitamin E, olive oil keeps your skin cells
healthy and may even protect your skin from UV radiation damage.
- ·
Coconut oil
It is an excellent carrier oil for covering a large surface
area with essential oils.
Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties making it
great for skin infections, cuts, and rashes.
It can be used to treat facial imperfections and protect the
skin from harmful bacteria.
Coconut oil is full of vitamins and nutrients that can
benefit your skin and health.
- ·
Avocado oil
It absorbs slowly but deeply into the skin;
it’s very hydrating and an excellent moisturizer for dry
skin.
Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamin E, potassium,
lecithin, and many other nutrients that can nourish, help with anti-aging, and
moisturize the skin.
Avocado oil is very “oily” and thick, so it will leave
behind a thicker residue than some of the other
Safety Tips for
Using Mekis Peppermint Essential Oil
Please keep in mind that our essential oils are highly
concentrated and precautions need to be taken when using them. Here are some
safety considerations to keep in mind when using Mekis Peppermint Essential
Oil:
·
One of the most important things to remember
when using peppermint oil, is that less is more. Start with 1-2 drops (diluted
properly in a carrier oil, such as Almond, Jojoba or Olive), and add more later
if needed.
·
Our Peppermint essential oil is for external use only, meaning you should not ingest it. At times, the
essential oil is confused with the peppermint plant leaves, which are edible.
Make sure to be clear on the difference.
·
As with any essential oil or new skin care
ingredient, we always recommend testing on a small patch of skin before
applying to a larger area. Because essential oils are highly concentrated, some
people may experience a negative or allergic reaction to them. It’s important
to dilute essential oils properly in
a carrier oil before applying to the skin.
Who Can Use Mekis
Peppermint Essential Oil?
Almost anyone can use our Peppermint essential oil; however,
it is not recommended to use on infants
as negative side effects may occur if they inhale the menthol in the oil.
